When Warm Fuzzies Aren't

by Susan DaffronProtected by Copyscape. Do not copy.

When you do work for other people, you hope that it will be well received. Around here we often use the term, "warm fuzzy feeling." Maybe it's because we have so many warm fuzzy animals in our midst, but when we finish a project, we hope that people will feel really good about the work we've done and have a few warm fuzzy feelings about it.  For example, the other day I handed off a whole lot of pages on a giant web site rewrite project I'm doing. The response from the client was, "The pages look great! Send me an invoice."

Now that's my kind of client! And those were some serious warm fuzzies directed my way. It was great.

This morning, James and I were talking about the other type of client. The ones where nothing you do is ever good enough. Everyone has dealt with them at one time or another. These are the people when you lower the price and throw in a lot of extra benefits, they still aren't happy and whine profusely. Or, to quote James, they give you that "bald chilly feeling."

Sometimes you hear a phrase like that and realize, uh oh, we've just added a new term to the personal lexicon. So I thought I'd share: the next time someone makes you feel crummy, now you know, it's just that "bald chilly feeling." :-)
